The Effect of Concavity Restoration on Glenohumeral Stability in a Glenoid Bone Loss Model: Comparing Distal Tibial Allograft Reconstruction to Classic Latarjet

Purpose: The purpose of this cadaveric study was to evaluate glenohumeral stability and glenoid concavity following DTA and Latarjet procedures.

Summary:

  • DTA demonstrated significantly improved glenoid concavity compared to the Latarjet procedure.
  • No difference in anterior translation was observed between DTA and Latarjet when the sling effect was present.

JRF Takeaways: DTAs restored greater glenoid concavity compared to the traditional Latarjet procedure. With biomechanical performance equivalent to Latarjet and without the associated donor site morbidity, DTA remains an excellent option for glenoid reconstruction.
