Whole Femoral Condyle
As the gold standard for cartilage restoration, osteochondral allografts (OCA) allow surgeons to transplant structurally intact, mature, viable, hyaline cartilage matrix with bone for superior biomechanical and durable repair. Proprietary processing methods are shown to maintain 80% absolute cartilage viability.
Allograft Highlights
- Geography: Gives the trochlea and both condyle facets for large defect that cover both sides of the trochlea or when the patient has multiple defect sites.
- Trochlear defects:
- Whole Femoral Condyles are special order grafts produced and size-matched for a specific patient.
- Single stage procedures with no donor site morbidity
- Commonly used with OATS or shell techniques.
- Mostly used to restore cartilage in the knee
