Centennial, Colo. – March 1, 2016 – JRF Ortho, one the nation’s largest non-profit providers of fresh osteochondral allografts, announced the launch of a new proprietary allograft, Fresh OCA Cores. The Cores are a great alternative for focal lesions (of 20mm or less) and provide complete replacement with viable intact osteochondral allograft without donor site morbidity.
The Cores are created through proprietary processing methods shown to maintain cartilage viability. These allografts are structurally intact, containing a mature, hyaline matrix with bone for superior biomechanical and durable repair. It is a single step treatment with no patient size matching required and utilizes existing instrumentation (disposable Arthrex™ OATS® sets).
“We are dedicated to finding new innovative solutions using allografts to improve patients’ quality of life,” said Jim Czepiel, Director at JRF Ortho. “The precut Fresh OCA Cores are a ground breaking solution providing surgeons with a convenient and new tool for cartilage treatment.”
The Cores are processed in an aseptic environment within 48 hours of tissue recovery by highly trained technicians. There is also a comprehensive inspection criteria in place to ensure tissue and cartilage quality. The preservation methodology of the Cores optimizes chondrocyte viability.
By focusing on innovation and quality of care, JRF Ortho has grown into one of the nation’s largest and most respected suppliers of fresh osteochondral allografts.
