Applications are now open for the 2026 quarterly JRF Ortho Traveling Fellowships, designed to provide live OR surgical exposure to osteochondral allografts, meniscus, and ligament repair in a dynamic, immersive learning environment. These unique fellowship opportunities will foster the exchange of knowledge and surgical expertise in the field of sports medicine and orthopedic surgery.
The JRF Ortho Fellowships support current sports medicine fellows, early practice orthopedic surgeons, or surgeons seeking to incorporate cartilage restoration procedures into their clinical practice by offering unique training experiences led by distinguished faculty in different regions across the U.S.
Each quarter, three outstanding candidates will be selected for this unique experience — and one of those quarters will be dedicated entirely to an all-female cohort, with both faculty and fellows coming together to advance women in orthopedic surgery.
Fellows benefit from mentorship by renowned experts and hands-on surgical observation at leading medical centers, with travel costs covered by the program.
The JRF Ortho Fellowship is intended to foster the exchange of knowledge and skills in the field of sports medicine and orthopedic surgery, specifically in allografts. Fellows will have the opportunity to observe surgeries performed by highly respected surgeons, discuss the surgical procedures, as well as share research experience.
The applicant should be able to speak English, have completed an orthopedic surgery residency and have a practice focusing on sports surgery. Applicants are required to submit:
(1) Letter of motivation with career goals (max 2 pages);
(2) Brief CV (max 2 pages), including date of birth, current and past affiliation, degrees, awards, and research interests;
(3) List of publications on cartilage treatment and joint preservation over the last five years (from 2020) with titles and journal references (optional).
