Achilles Tendon

Returning to an active lifestyle after an anterior or posterior cruciate ligament tear is possible. The Achilles tendon can be used for the reconstruction of ACL, PCL, or tendon soft tissue augmentation.

This tendon allows surgeons to maximize biomechanical properties by optimizing bone block geometry and its contact in the tunnel, while allowing selecting the optimal length. Tendon allografts remain an excellent repair option for any ligament repair procedure where prior reconstructions have failed or where tendon ruptures or tears are present.

Achilles tendons are offered in:

  • 10mm preshaped
  • Achilles with bone
  • Achilles without bone
Achilles Tendon

Features and Benefits

  • Ultra low dose frozen irradiated tendon (9.5 – 15 kGy) – assures sterility & maintaining biomechanical strength
  • No autograft morbidity
  • Simplifies procedure compared to an autograft BTB, saving OR time and cost
  • Natural calcaneus bone block allows for multiple fixation types and bone to bone interface
  • Available in 10 mm Pre-shaped bone blocks, which can reduce OR time potentially reducing costs and an offering an optimal solution for patients
  • Allows for surgeon to select best fixation technique
  • Surgeons can predetermine diameter size of tunnels and graft length
