Osteochondral Allografts

Overview

Distal Tibia can be used alone or in conjunction with a Talus to restore cartilage surface in the ankle.

Additionally, as the leader in osteochondral allografts (OCA), JRF Ortho works with surgeons to advance the treatment of bone and cartilage defects.  Dr Matthew Provencher, in conjunction with JRF Ortho, pioneered the use of distal tibia osteochondral allograft to repair glenoid bone loss and achieve restoration of the glenoid arc with solid bone and smooth cartilage.

Studies show that fresh osteochondral allografts transplanted with viable chondrocytes have significant functional and clinical advantages.

Features and Benefits

  • Processed in an aseptic environment by highly trained processing technicians
  • After processing, the grafts are refrigerated in JRF Ortho’s unique nutrient media with antibiotic that has been shown to maintain cartilage viability during refrigerated storage
  • Comprehensive inspection criteria to detect allograft imperfections, tissue and cartilage quality
  • Detailed dissection sheets for each individual graft provide the surgeon a photo of the specific graft with all recorded measurements and notations of any slight imperfections that may be present
  • Packaging is clearly labeled with expiration date and storage instructions
  • Fresh allografts for the ankle, can be radiographically size-matched to the individual patient
  • Glenoid reconstruction with a distal tibia does not require a size match
  • Packaging is clearly labeled with expiration date and storage instructions
